Book Report :)

Reading part of Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side is identical to reading any other teen vampire romance novel, they are all interchangeable, with the same characters, same scenarios and same characters. This time, the brooding vampire is new in town and is already the main characters fiancĂ©e, unlike in the Twilight series when it takes till the last book for them to get married. This book is not as well written as the Twilight series, but that can be understood seeing as it was only written to be cranked out into the vast world of teen vampire books, in the hope that some unfortunate soul will pick it up. In the end as in Twilight and all other vampire books they fall madly in love.

This book is more based on Dracula then most of the others. The vampire in the book, Vladescu is from Transylvania and actually lives in an ancient gothic castle. He can go out into the sun, and doesn’t sparkle like Edward. He also doesn’t sleep in a coffin, something almost all vampire novels have in common. I suppose, coffin-breath is very bad. He has fangs, but they only appear sometimes and as always he is incredibly tall. In the beginning scene he stands in the rain in his dark trench coat, something which should have sent off a “cheesy book” scene off in everyone’s heads. Even the most die-hard Twilight vampire fans, will –hopefully- scoff at this book, and I am ashamed to say I read the whole thing through, if only in the way you can’t help but turn and look at a car crash.
